Kdenlive 24.08.3 Appimage doesn't show other drives

I have just tested. It doesn’t show other drives when importing video clips. 24.08.2 from Flathub and Fedora Flatpak both are suffering from the same problem. Only the 24.08.2 from Fedora’s own repository is working fine. Anyone can shed some lights on this problem?

Appimage isn’t showing the drives, or just the flatpak?

The flatpak probably has default permissions restrictions on drive access. Use Flatseal to change these, or you can look for application permissions in System Settings if you use Plasma.

Both have this same problem.

Permissions are good. If it is a permission problem, then the same kdenlive installed from Fedora repository would face this problem also. But it doesn’t.

No, I think this is per-flatpak

I have zero issues with the appimage accessing any of my internal or external drives (KDE neon, but that should not matter). I haven’t looked at the flatpak yet.

The appimage IS using the generic Qt file picker, which won’t have the “places” option like the native Plasma one does, so you do have to go to the actual mount point.

This is very confusing and I don’t think I would be able to do that correctly as I am very new. So, I think I should stick with the 24.08.2 for the time being till they update all the repositories. Thanks for trying to help me.

I couldn’t see any other drives in ‘Open - Kdenlive’ window. So, I am not sure if it is really working on your end. In my end, it is giving problem. Anyway, I have deleted the Appimage file. Instead I have installed Kdenlive 24.08.2 from Fedora repository and it is working, at least in this section but now I have other issues. I will create separate thread(s) for those not to clutter this thread. Thank you for replying.

Yes it is working.

Looking at my screenshot, /media/claydoh/Extras is my second hard drive. Automounted things usually go to /media/your-username.

The appimage uses a simple and generic file picker which doesn’t have a “drives” section like Plasma has.

My USB stuck is also mounted in /media/claydoh and the appimage sees it just fine.

All very surprising, the AppImages are the best and most error-free that Kdenlive has to offer.
No problems at all for me.
