Double-clicking to open a Kdenlive file takes a very long time. However, opening the same file after first launching Kdenlive is faster.
Even though I close the “Clip monitor” tab, when I click on a media file in the “project bin,” the “Clip monitor” tab automatically opens.
When I apply “Mix clips” to clips placed side by side and select an effect other than “luma” from the list, the playhead moves off the screen after the last visible position when playing the video.

Thank you for the Update:
Although i face an Issue. I have to select always the layout, which I set for my normal use.
It is getting to default, which is not my setup.
Also “Glaxnimate” is still not working with Kdenlive.
Which, if you are using the Flatpak for Kdenlive and Glaxnimate, will continue to be the case unless you manage to break them out of the sandbox environment. I tried tinkering with Flatseal but to no avail (could be my ineptitude, though). So, if I want to do animation(s) with Glaxnimate, I use the appimage for both and it works like a charm.
I think the new function “Audio monitoring” in clip/Project Monitor is taking much space and breaks the Layout settings. Hope there is a possibility to deactivate it.
You know that when you double-click the queue entry in the render window, you can play the video you just created in the standard media player of your OS?
I’m relatively new to KDENlive, having cut my teeth on Final Cut Studio/DVD Studio Pro in the mid-2000’s.
I’ve been through the Adobe nightmare, Blackmagic’s buggy attempt, even played with things like Lightworks. And from my experience KDENlive is the only pro-level NLE that I not only trust, but literally has **everything you any editor would ever need to “get ‘er done”.
In fact the only other platforms (ancient) as versatile and rock-stable were the Amiga-based Newtek “Video Toaster” and Quantel EditBox. (gee, maybe I’m the one that’s ancient).
The reviews from others making comparisons between KDENlive and say “Shotcut” are either afraid of the pro interface or unwilling to learn it. (To me that comparison is like expecting a Honda Civic Si to perform like an F-1 car.)
Keep up the good work guys. After the holidays I’ll be supporting you with donation/s, for certain.
You can save your desired Layout and manage / order all the layouts as you wish (bring to the top). Then click each time your saved layout when you open kdenlive. That is what I do now.
Thank you for the awesome work! I noticed a number of new niceties in the UI, as I tried it out.
Just noticing though that this new release is less stable for me, on Linux Mint, compared to 24.12.0 that I used before. A few things I’ve noticed:
Adding transitions between clips is way slower now, and causes a ca 1-2 second freeze, at least for my rather large project (1 hours, with ~10 clips and many cuts).
Multiple times it has happened that the video part of my video/audio tracks suddely disappear. In most cases I was able to get them restored by I think some Ctrl+Z and perhaps cancelling or moving around UI elements, but finally it managed to destroy the last version of my video file. Luckily I’m saving new versions pretty regularly.
In one occasion it did not heed my instructions on marker zone export, and exported the whole video instead repeated times. This was resolved by moving around one of the markers a bit.
Anyways, keep up the great work - KdenLive is otherwise fantastic!
The one (minor) visual ‘glitch’ I notice is in the top left of the screen, immediately under File & Edit menu items. It only appears when loading your project. Looks like some text is being written on top of existing text or something. Otherwise, I haven’t had much to complain about. A couple of odd unexpected closures of the app, but not much else to report.
