For the first time in Kdenlive's history, this version includes features implemented by so many different contributors. Our developer community is growing, don't hesitate to join us building a free and open source video editing program that respects the users privacy and provides a tool to democratize communication.
Just having a quick look. You may remember my previous post about an error message when generating the transition previews. Your conclusion was that it was happening because I didn’t have Python installed, and you were going to look at pre-building the previews.
I’m pleased to report that they are all present and correct in this version, however I still get the “Failed to generate transition previews” error message when switching between list and icon views, even though they are all in fact present.
Apart from that, so far, looks excellent, and I thank all the developers for their continued work.
@GaryB and @xicopiresThank you for the feedback. Now the transition previews are pre-build and inside the Kdenlve.exe. Yes, Kdenlive still checks if there are user Luma effects and tries to start Python to convert them into previews. Maybe we should check if Python is installed and if not, we should tell the user that Lumas created by the user cannot have a preview.
So I installed the new version of Kdenlive, 26.04, by installer. When I tried to render my videos there, it stopped rendering and crashed. However, the previous release, 25.12.3 (which I installed by installer before the new release and standalone for this post), rendered completely and without problems.
I just downloaded the 26.04.0 Kdenlive standalone version and started it on my Win10 machine.
Open the task manager (Ctrl+Sift+Esc) and go to tab Details. Is there a Kdenlive instance still running? If yes, select it with the right mouse and choose Kill Process Structure (or similar). Then start Kdenlive again and watch if Kdenlive appears on that tab.
26.04.0 still doesn’t launch. (25.12.3 launches normally.)
My graphic card is pretty old. It’s a GTX 1060, and the driver version is 582.28 (the latest compatible driver before NVIDIA dropped the support for Pascal architecture).
