We are happy to announce the summer release of Kdenlive 26.08. Continuing the efforts from the last version, the core team has been focusing mostly on stability - fixing bugs and crashes while also doing lot's under the hood improvements.

I’m having an issue with Kdenlive 26.08.0 on Windows 11. When I click “Create New Project” on the splash screen, the program freezes and then closes.
I didn’t experience this issue with version 25.12, which opened normally on the same system.
Added ability to move tracks up or down
Despite this being a rather boring release of mostly just QoL enhancements, this is huge to me, incredibly convenient to finally have.

one more thing: the problem happened when I used Kdenlive 25.12.3 this is why i tried to used the v26.04.3 with no more success. May be there is no link but i noticed that this happened after an update of the Nvidia video pilot v616.56.
I think you are using the install version.
Please do the following: Delete the folder C:\Program Files\Kdenlive. Then re-install Kdenlive again.
It could be that old files are in the folder and creating crashes.
Thank you for this Eugen but the re-installation does not solve the problem. the Kdenlive standalone version has also the same behaviour.
I noticed that the last time Kdenlive 25.12.3 standalone worked correctly Windows displayed an error on Qt6Core.dll v6.10.2.0, and melt.exe
Try the following:
Press Win+R and type appdata. Go to Local and within it rename kdenliverc to kdenliverc.old. Start Kdenlive.

Good that rectangles have boreer radius option in Titler but please add drop shadow option too for this. Like the text.
Awesome improvements, continue the good work. I pray to god that Kdenlive soon enters the movie industry. Because Kdenlive has such flexibility and professional capabilities and software competence.
Not yet, one thing is still lacks that keeps it back is 10/12 bit video. It can only right now work in 8 bit video right now and will downgrade a video color depth if it’s above 8 bit. Thankfully, the roadmap says that it’s targeted for 26.12 to be the release that gets the 10/12 bit video.
Will kdenlive be recognized by hollywood after that? I guess we’ll let time be the judge.
I honestly hope it happens soon and I do believe that it will happen.
