KDenlive lock files in Windows 10, even in deleted from the project bin

If I add an audio file or movie into kdenlive, then realize I need to change it, I seem to have to either close down the entire program to replace the file or save my new file under a new filename in order to replace it. Kdenlive makes the file in use and do not let go of it, even if I delete the file from the Project Bin, so any manipulation of the file will end up with “The action can’t be completed because the file is open in kdenlive.exe”. I find no way to make kdenlive release it except for closing the whole application.

If you delete it from the project bin, it’s actually still ‘in use’ because we need to keep all resources alive in case you want to ‘undo’ the delete operation.

There’s an option to clear the undo stack coming in a future release which might help with this - but windows has always had this sort of problem with concurrent access to resources and it is mostly a windows specific problem, not something kdenlive is explicitly doing or that happens on other OS platforms.

Something like that would be most appreciated. My spoken English is unfortunately pretty broken. As I am making a documentary I am using a lot of clips, audio segments and pictures, and I am noting that I am spending a significant time restarting kdenlive whenever I need to re-speak a segment when realizing not even I can hear what I said.
