Hello, I’m having a problem and was wondering if anyone here could help. My original video is FFV1 with 10-bit color but when I export it with FFV1 (ffv1+flac) the final video is only 8-bit color even though I have render at full color range turned on. I’ve also tested just exporting 1 video with no effects and the rendered video is still 8-bit. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? I’m using Windows with Kdenlive version 26.08.1.
It’s not a bug, but unfortunately a feature. This isn’t kdenlive’s fault, the backend the editor uses, libmlt (Media Lovin Toolkit) only got 10/12 bit video rendering since last year. There is still more work to be done on it, but the editor itself has to right now opt into using it. The devs are working on it, with any hope as outlined by the roadmap it should be here in december.
Until then, all 10 and 12 bit video will be downgraded to 8 bit. If 10/12 bit video is non-negotiable, shotcut says it supports 10 bit video end to end.
