Everytime I change the theme it also resets the mouse cursor. How do I keep the mouse cursors?
This is in the documentation:
What if you change it from “Colors & Themes” instead of the “quick settings” tab? Perhaps the quick settings applies across mouse curses as well, but the “colors & themes” sets them independently.
Every time the theme changes the cursors are reset. Annoying.
quick settings applies the whole look, including the cursor. set the cursor under Colors & Themes → Cursors, Apply, then avoid flipping Global Theme from the quick tile after that.
to keep a theme change from wiping it, put this in ~/.config/kcminputrc:
[Mouse]
cursorTheme=YourCursorName
then reapply from Colors & Themes → Cursors once. if a global theme still stomps it, just re-pick the cursor after the theme change. some builds also have a checkbox under the global theme configure dialog for whether cursors come along.
so the whole KDE System Settings is a scam. I need to go and change some config files?
It’s the “Global Theme” that changes everything. If you want to customize each category, you can’t use the Global option because it changes your cursor, colors, etc.
Instead, what you want to do is leave the “Global” option alone. You want to switch one thing at a time. Your Plasma, cursor, color, etc.
