hi, welcome.
these kinds of things are usually a theming issue.
does the problem persist if you switch back to a breeze theme?
does the same issue occur with a new user acct?
i think you can also turn off the pop up if it’s not useful to you.
the system tray widget should indicate what layout is active and you can set that to be always visible.
I want the pop up! More of that, I need it to be very visible, not black on dark theme or white on white theme
you can try settings > colors and try playing with the options in there.
find your active theme and click on the pencil icon
there you can edit colors of almost any aspect of the GUI
I tried them all, this does not change the splash / pop up style
You can set your dark colour scheme, but that means Plasma will be dark - and you can’t tweak individual colours easily.
Remember, Meta_Alt_K switches the keyboard - open up your Plasma Style panel, try choosing Oxygen (dark but with shiny highlights), try also installing Klassy, the theme 'Kite Dark (Klassy) comes up a lighter grey that contrasts more with your dim background…
also when you apply a theme you have the option of applying to desktop and window settings as well, perhaps that is the step you are missing
i use breeze twilight because it panel backgound it gives me is dark grey but not black, so when the keyboard switch pop-up appears it’s a lighter color than an otherwise black background.
fair warning: checking that box will overwrite you desktop picture and panel layout and restore things to the theme default
I can’t find Kite Light (Klassy) for some reason.
But seems to possibly be the easiest way to solve the problem
Install Klassy - it is software.
It has some nice and many advanced options - from icons to window decorations.
