KOrganzer and google calendar

Hello,

I’ve been testing Fedora 44 KDE and I’m quite impressed. The only thing keeping me from switching over permanently is managing my Google contacts and calendars.

I’ve been scouring the forums for three days now, but nothing seems to work.

Here’s the situation:

Adding my Google account via “Online Accounts.”
This doesn’t manage my calendars or contacts.
Adding the account via Kontact and Korganizer (Google version)
I can see the account displayed in Calendar with the “Ready” status, but I don’t see the calendars in Korganizer’s calendar list.
If I go through the setup again—editing, two-step verification, etc.—it does show me the list of calendars in the popup so I can select the ones I want to subscribe to. But once confirmed, the calendars still don’t show up.
Adding the account via Korganizer (using Google’s ICS URL)
This way, I see the calendars and all the events, but it’s read-only. I can’t edit or create new events.
Also, I can’t add private calendars shared with me.

I’ve seen on some forums that people use AkonisConsole. I installed it, but I don’t understand what I’m supposed to do or look for.

I could switch to Thunderbird, which works, but I figure it’s better to use the built-in KDE software that’s integrated throughout the system. For example, having appointments show up in the taskbar next to the calendar.

Could someone please help me or point me in the right direction?

Have a nice day.

Open KOrganizer, then Settings>> General >> Calendars, then Add...

There should be a Google Groupware option there, though your distro may need an extra package, if you don’t see it.

that’s what i have done.

version de kOrganizer : 6.6.3

Same with last version 6.7.1

Sorry, I had originally read this on mobile, and did not read that code block too well.

I do not know why they are not showing for you, as both of my Google accounts do work here (KDE neon) and have for some time.

I’ve tried with KDE Neon in a VM. Same problem.

Somebody has tried with a fresh install in a VM?

I’m pretty sure if you use the ics url you get read-only calendars.

you shouldn’t need to specify the url at all if you use the instructions posted above by claydoh above

Sync your calendar with computer programs - Google Calendar Help talks about using the ics url for read-only calendars
