KRunner and Application Launcher no longer sorting application results by history?

Hi all!

I upgraded from Fedora 42 (Plasma 6.4.4) to 43 (Plasma 6.5.5) recently and I noticed that KRunner and the Application Launcher (Kickoff) no longer sort my application search result in most-frequently-used order like they used to earlier. So, previously if I searched for “kon”, they would suggest me “Konsole” first, since that’s what I used most frequently for that search. Even shorter searches like “ko” worked. Now, every time I type “kon”, the application “Kontact” shows up, no matter how many times I instead select “Konsole” after that search. So, the search is no longer remembering my preference for “kon” to mean “Konsole”.

Has anybody else noticed this? Is it an intentional change? This was really important functionality to me since I was using the search functionality to launch my frequently used applications quickly, without having to create specific shortcuts for each application.

It’s a very good idea! I also feel there is a lack of it. GNOME has this feature and it works brilliantly. It makes workflow more productive and convenient.

Maybe a change in the .desktop files? Try checking both .desktop files for Konsole and Kontact, something inside of them could have been changed to make Plasma Search prioritize one over the other
