I managed to install Xcreensaver in Kubuntu 25.10.
I set up Xcreensaver to start automatically.
Xcreensaver starts after login and displays this window.

I am supposed to start display “:0.” But how can I get XScreensaver to do this automatically and start minimized when Kubuntu starts?

These errors are displayed in the Xcreensaver autostart:

In Wayland, I can’t use xscreensaver-demo or xscreen-setup (in X11 session yes). But I can use xscreensaver.
And I have assigned a shortcut in Alt+S:

I use the Plasma (X11) workspace session on Kubuntu 25.10.

My log in autostart, if you seen, is full of Failed (as you have in X11)
This, load the xscreensaver demon. Only type xscreensaver:
You tried to do my shortcut (with your custom keys) and see if works? In konsole, you can type xscreensaver-command -activate and see if works before do the shortcut.

Yes, I was able to set a keyboard shortcut for Xscreensaver.
But that’s not my problem.
I want Xscreensaver to start automatically after logging into Kubuntu.
And you gone to start automatically and followed the arrows to add xscreensaver (without sh, sleep, etc)?

By the way…I also use Xscreensaver with Windows 11. Although Xscreensaver for Windows was last updated in 2015, it still works flawlessly in Windows.
