Kwin_x11 creating nonstop journal entries of : kwin_core: parsing edid failed

kwin_x11 is filling up my journal with the message “kwin_core: parsing edid failed”. I’m using Archlinux, sddm, kde plasma, nvidia GPU. Any ideas how to stop it?

Maybe related to your monitor - how about try HDMI to a TV and unplug the monitor?

Yes, I’m reasonably sure it’s related to my monitor: one is a no name brand monitor that’s very limited. And probably the edid data is not queryable - but kwin_x11 expects it to be and because it’s not, it keeps writing journal entries.

I’m having the same issue. My latest syslog is 22 GB. I need to fix this.

Does anyone know a way to surpress the messages?

I ended up changing my kernel logging to level 1.

But it doesn’t work…

Hi! Just checking, do you also have an NVIDIA graphics card? If so, which drivers are you using - the open-source Nouveau drivers, the proprietary NVIDIA drivers with an open kernel module, or proprietary with closed kernel module?

Also for reference, there is an open report in the KDE Bugtracking System on this topic: 495406 – Kwin_x11 spamming nonstop journal entries of : kwin_core: parsing edid failed
