KyMoney vs. GNUCash

I used Quicken “Home and Business” for my personal and business accounting. THat is the version that provides the usual Quicken personal finance functionalty but has extensions for light business use (little invoicing and no payroll).

I have just moved my personal accouning to KMyMoney.

I am wondoering about doing a second setup of KMyMoney for the business. Before I do, what about GNUCash as a small business alternative? I am looking for other people’s actual experience with these two in a small business context.

If you found that both were poor, what free alternative did you think was better?

Thanks.

for light invoicing i stayed on KMyMoney for personal and ran a second file for the business. works fine if you keep the two files separate.

GNUCash is stronger once you want real double-entry reports, invoices with taxes, and that small-business flow. steeper learning curve though.

if you already know KMyMoney, a second KMyMoney file is the least friction. switch to GNUCash only when the invoicing side starts feeling cramped.

Thanks! Exactly the kind of practical experience I was looking for.
