Language settings in Plasma — why can't we put a language below English in priority/why does it break applications?

Hello! I’m learning German and I’m getting tired of Plasma’s spell checker complaining about German words. I’m a native English speaker and still very new at German so I don’t want German by default, but I want Plasma to stop complaining about German words.

What do I do?

You have this section unchecked? In Plasma Settings → Language and Time → Spell Checker
