From the Plasma desktop, if i choose to logout (intending then to just log back in), i am instead taken to a TTY. I am offered to login to said TTY, but see no way to return to the actual Plasma Login Manager screen (ie, our SDDM replacement). Once i have logged into the TTY, i can run run0 systemctl start plasmalogin.service, in hope that it would behave like its equivalent for SDDM used to, ie, then return me to a new login screen. In fact, nothing (visible) changes. Attempting to toggle via Ctrl+Alt+F1, F2, F3, F4, F5, F6, F7, does nothing. Each time i was stranded like this i have not known what else to do but to reboot.
This has happened to me now for a few kdelinux versions:
- 12/7/26: Successfully installed update ‘202607120254’. → iirc happens here
- 14/7/26: Successfully installed update ‘202607130254’. → iirc happens here
- 26/7/26: Successfully installed update ‘202607250254’. → current running system, definitely happens
A brief search of this forum did not reveal others also saying it… can it be a purely local issue only for me then? What troubleshooting should i do?
