Kdenlive is my favorite video editor. And i want to stay on Linux. Do not think to move to Windows again. I have a ryzen 5 amd cpu and rx 580 8 gb amd gpu. I edited a 11 mins long video. When i hit the render button, it shows 50 mins to render it. I use a flatpak version of kdenlive. Is it because of flatpak or kdenlive. Any help?
Hi @Ozgur_Abaci, and welcome to the forum and community.
Kdenlive uses the CPU for all effects and compositions/transitions, and the GPU only for the decoding and encoding. If you have many effects (some are more compute intensive than others, so the type of effect also plays a role) and transitions/compositions, the CPU has a lot to do before it passes the frames on to the encoding step.
TL;DR:
Is it because of flatpak or kdenlive
Neither. It’s the nature of the beast ![]()
