People here familiar with MX know what i mean.
Hi - for folks who aren’t as familiar with MX Linux (my experience with it started and ended on a wild and crazy weekend afternoon ), could you describe what functionality you’re looking for in a tool so that folks here could best guide you?
You are correct.
Basically, it’s an app that stops annoying advertisements from reaching your computer in the first place.
Think there are similar options out there on the web (forget the name), but this app greatly simplifies the task.
If it actually is an app and not some script then run a MX Linux instance using the dpkg-repack to get a .deb of it. Then run this script below to take a look at the control file before using dpkg -i advert.deb to install it to check the dependencies can be satisfied by your current OS.
Oh, presumed it was an app.
Maybe it’s part of MX’s famous toolbox.
This is why I said if an app as in a .deb that is installed. They have tons of tools they add into their distribution as you well know.
So, other than digging out that .deb app out of the toolbox,
there are no other alternatives up in KDE’s sleave?
No clue on KDE but apparently not the only one wanting it in another distro. I found this mint posting which leads to the source of it.

Since there is a debian directory with a rules file in it you should be able to change into the extracted source directory where a listing will show the debian directory. Then use fakeroot debian/rules binary to build a nice little .deb file to install.
Edit: Though now I enable the java script to see the last commit seven years ago seems a little long in the tooth. What is wrong with uBlock Origin and no script to get it done? I never see ads with them installed.
uBlock Origin is excellent on Firefox.
Even lite version is fine on Vivaldi.
Just considering alternatives in view of the day when Ytube decides to block all browsers with adblock activated on their site.
Remember when Firefox was blocked not so long ago?
Advert block antix: https://mxrepo.com/MX23packages.html
Nice find!
Let’s hope it works…
The other day, tried
https://freetubeapp.io/ (another good way to avoid ads on Ytube)
on KDE Neon Plasma, and it wouldn’t work.
Maybe the latest beta was the problem?
Not really my usage of it is maybe once a month at the most, even then I better really want the information to sit there and watch one of them. I prefer text links with actual information not some half assed explanation by someone not giving enough information to solve the problem only looking for hits to their channel.
Advert installed, asked for p.w. then… nothing.
Even on reboot.
Freetube had similar issue.
Suspect KDE Neon 6 issue.
Wish i could do that!
Btw, are you a huge fan of duck tape?
Just had to ask.
Oh yeah big fan of it. And If the women don’t find you handsome, they should at least find you handy. Has always been my motto.
Edit: Am out of ideas on the not working in Neon.
Not a problem.
Just tryin’ to do a bit of prep. work.
p.s. any friend of RedGreen, is a friend of mine.
Gotta love those possums!
