Magnetic cursor?

Bravo for this fantastic software.

I do not find a very very useful feature present on proprietary editing software: the magnetic cursor.

When approaching the edge of a cut, or an entry or exit point of the rendering, the magnetic cursor allows to place automatically on the precise cut (either it is an option, often on Première or Davinci, or the function is activated, or it is deactivated by pressing SHIFT)

Is there a similar function on Kdenlive? I’ve been trying to find it for a long time, but I feel like the function isn’t present.

Thank you very much

Hi, and welcome to the forum and community.

There is a snap option that can be enabled via Kdenlive Menu > Timeline > Snap, or by clicking on the magnet icon in the status bar at the bottom. This is enabled by default and will snap any dragged clips to a cut, a guide, or a marker.

Hello berndmj, and thank you so much for your quick feedback!
This is indeed the right option, however the function is incomplete, I explain:

There is well a magnetization of the clips on the slider, but unfortunately no magnetization of the slider on the clips.

The slider also normally magnetize at the point of “in” and “out” of the rendering which is extremely convenient to avoid errors

So this may seem to be a detail but in really truth, it is this magnetization of the slider that is very very valuable.

Or maybe there is an option to add this function on the slider itself?

thank’s

I’m afraid I don’t understand what you mean with slider. Can you point it out to me in a screenshot?

I was guessing they meant the timeline cursor, and were looking for Alt+{left, right}, the goto previous/next snap position navigation buttons … ?

Dawn yes, sorry for the confusion, i’m talking about the timeline cursor !

Yes it’s exactly like alt+ right or left, but with auto magnetization of the timeline cursor when you move it with the mouse and you’re getting close to a cut.
