Meta+key leaves garbage in the active window

Hi there!

A few days ago I noticed that pressing Meta+Key leaves garbage in a window with focus. I use Meta+Tab to switch between applications and Meta+` to switch between windows of an active application.

If I press the combination once, everything works as expected, but if I press any of combinations Meta+key twice or more, there is garbage appears in the window I’m switching from. For example, if I press Meta+` three times, there will be two symbols ``.

The same with other keys that I use with combination with Meta.

Could you give me a clue please, what can I do to avoid described behavior?

I checked a few apps, for example VSCode, Thunderbird, LibreOffice Writer. All of them behave the same.

My configuration is Ubuntu 22.04 LTS with the latest KDE Neon on Wayland.

If you need more details, please let me know.

Thank you!

Also I noticed, that not all of the apps have the behaviour I described above. For example, kate works well, Firefox does not have the bug, konsole also works fine.

This sounds a lot like 484992 – Xwayland apps get Tab keyboard events even when they should be filtered out by event filter (kde.org)

Can you try to set the xwayland snooping to never?

Thank you! It is exactly that I was looking for! I set “Allow legacy X11 apps to read keystrokes” in settings to “never” and since that apps have been working as expected.
