Missing keyboard shortcut to complete editing a ledger transaction

Is there a way to edit a transaction mouse-less?

I can start the edit function with Ctrl-e but there doesn’t seem to be a keyboard shortcut to close the edit function. Esc will discard the changed (no warning of data loss). I’m using version 5.2.0.

The older 5.1 was accepting Ctrl-enter to save and exit the edit box

Also, why does the transaction details shown at the bottom of the screen not allow editing anymore and a new edit box now shows up?

I simply use Enter and that works for me.

Because maintaining two different implementations of transactions editors was ineffective.

Thanks for the reply.

Enter does sort of work.

On most fields it works but not on the memo field. That’s the one I use most.

All does is giving me a new line

Then simply use TAB to go to the next field and press Enter then.

I was struggling with this too. “Enter” works if one cycles via TAB through the ledger transaction. Except where one has ticked the box on Settings→Ledger→ Data entry: “Use Enter to move between fields”. In this case, “Enter” does not work anymore to save the transaction. Even editing of/changing the shortcut “Enter” doesn’t change anything. The only way to end the transaction in that case is to click with the mouse on “enter”. I have version 5.2.1 with opensuse slowroll.

So it is the trigger of “use Enter to move” that removes the functionality. Ideally, ticking the box would also change “enter” to “ctrl-enter”. This was the very nice behaviour in the past AFAICR.
