The Mouse cursor doin’t change on KDE Plasma Desktop!
even the basic ones “grab“ or “pointer“
no matter what cursor theme you choose.
It won’t change to a grab icon until you click and start to drag.
i’m more interested in a “pointer“ than a “grab“, because “pointer” is a core element for cursors
What do you mean?
Do you mean that the cursor should change into a pointer as soon as you hover something clickable? Like when you hover a button or a link in a browser?
If yes, I have never seen anything like that in any OS. This is something browsers do to differentiate between content and clickable elements on a website.
For most other things, like text-input, grabbing, copying, symlinking, …: Plasma will indicate that with a different cursor.
What I mean by this:
Standard cursor on clickable elements (but note there is still a visual indiator in the UI directly):
Text input indicator:
Drag&drop will also indicate the action you’re performing (you will even get context info, like when creating a symlink or a different cursor for move versus copy):
But I have never seen a “pointer” cursor for clickable elements like in a browser in the shell of any OS (Windows, macOS included).
hi, welcome.
please post the output of kinfo
so you are saying no matter what you hover over or click on the cursor is always just the arrow (and a rather shabby looking one, at that)?
none of the other cursors shown in settings > appearance > cursors will appear, even if you choose breeze as your global theme?
Thank you guys for explaining i understand now.
So isn’t there a way to enable it customly?
you can of course design your own cursor theme and mix-n-match as much as you want, pulling the text cursor from breeze, and the move cursor from oxygen, etc.
not worth the time or effort, imo, but totally doable.
