<Multi_key> <U> + code point not working on Kubuntu 26.04/Plasma 6.6.4

Recently installed Kubuntu 26.04.

Have installed ibus and using Virtual Keyboard ‘IBus Wayland’.

Have set Compose key (Left Ctl).

Compose key works for composition of keyboard chars (eg. Ctl + ‘=’ + ‘/’ gives ‘≠’) but not for entering Unicode code points with Ctl-Shift-U followed by code point (eg. <2> <2> <6> <0>)

Have same problem in all applications: kate, Konsole, LibreOffice, etc…

Copy-Paste from KCharSelect works fine but is too long winded to be practical, as are other workarounds. Worked fine on Kubuntu 24.04.

I have searched the KDE Bug List and found no bug report for this so I presume I’m missing something but don;t k now what. Any pointers much appreciated.

Are you trying to use your Left Ctrl when you press Ctrl-Shift-U?

If so, that may not work, since you converted your Left Ctrl into Compose. Try it with Right Ctrl instead?

In my experience (on Fedora, not Kubuntu), Ctrl-Shift-U does work under “IBus Wayland” although with some unpleasant side effects (like Firefox becoming very laggy when typing a URL).

Thank you pg-tips.

Problem solved
