I am having a multi-monitor issue in the new KDE Plasma 6.7. The taskbar shortcut for display settings is not working properly. When I try to switch between displays or even toggle the second monitor on/off, the configuration breaks and the monitors turn off incorrectly. The display positions (left and right) are also lost when trying to use the display settings from the taskbar. I had already experienced this in Plasma 6.6.5, but it got worse in 6.7.

I have the same issue. Been troubleshooting since 6.7 release to no luck. Changing display arrangement through Meta+P or tray icon (shutting down one monitor or extending etc.) completely breaks the order, turns off the wrong display and makes the remaining display the primary one.

Just switched to Fedora 44. Clean install, no dual-boot or anything. Completely wiped the drive and issue persists.

I think I have figured out the issue. The options are mixed up for me, for whatever reason. So basically:
“Only use external screen” and “Only use built-in screen” are reverted, as well as:
“Extend to the left of screen” and “Extend to the right of screen” are reverted.
Essentially there is no bug, I just need to click the opposite of what I need. I hope this helps.
I encountered this issue on CachyOS, Fedora 44, and Kubuntu 26.04. It’s not isolated to CachyOS. I believe there is an issue here, and it’s related when monitors powering off while I’m switching between displays.
I see same thing on my system. I’m brand new to Linux (Windows escapee) and this is infuriating as it was never a problem in Win 11 Pro.
Now, july 2026, I’ve been on CachyOS for a month (version 7.1.3.2 at the time of writing this) with KDE Plasma 6.7.3.
I migrated to CachyOS only a month ago and trying to use 3 monitors. One of them (always the same one as well) is always disabled on reboot/restart. I have to use that monitors physical power button to shut it off, on, off, on multiple times until the system finally realizes its supposed to be there permanently.
So I would also guess it isnt checking the 4 ports of my videocard properly or something.
2 monitors, no problem but the third one always gets in trouble and it doesnt matter if I move them around in the actual videocard ports either. Still the same one that has issues, as if that particular monitor has a slightly different signal transmitter or something that linux/KDE has a hard time grabing hold of.
Once it finally DO let that monitor stay on though, it remains actiave as it should until the next reboot/shut down.
This is apparantly an ancient issue that should have been fixed long time ago.
Workflow! Multitasking! Important stuff if Linux wants to be taken seriously in the world, it has to just work.
