I think this thread has turned into “is the Talon author doing things in good faith” rather than focus on the legitimate problem of the Wayland ecosystem being rather frustrating to support due to lack of guidance for developers.
We should best focus on the actually productive stuff here, namely how to address the problems mentioned in the article. David Edmundson already listed a way forward to implement a bunch of this functionality.
