I was told to download a new driver by a friend so I did and I followed there instructions and now I’m stuck on this black screen when I try to boot. I’ve tried control alt f3 and it doesn’t work so I can’t access the console so after a bit i tried plugging in my flash drive to reinstall my operating system but it got stuck on the same black screen so the I tried editing the the grub after my friend told me to but that didn’t help as well
Hi - just to check, are you using KDE Neon as your operating system?
What do you see when you boot - do you at least get messages from your device’s firmware, like a manufacturer logo showing up?
What instructions did you follow before this happened?
does booting to the flash drive work? can you get to the “try it” or “install” option on the screen?
Yes I am using KdE Neon as my OS when I boot the KDE Neon logo pops up and the little gear spins but after that the screen goes back and freezes
No I can’t I’ve tried that already
if you can’t boot to a live USB then it’s a hardware problem.
you can try a different USB (and maybe a different distro) and see if it’s maybe the USB (or the distro .iso) that’s at fault, but it sounds more serious if you can’t even boot the live version.
