Today I noticed that my standard scan utility, Naps2, now takes almost a minute to open. The scanning itself then works.
I then uninstalled the app and installed a Flatpak version of Naps2 instead. However, that also started with a delay.
Maybe it’s not the app at all, but other settings. I’ve been using Feren OS 2025.03 as my operating system for a few days now and have made some configurations—mainly to themes and icons.
BTW: Here is the output from it’s debuglog.txt:
2025-10-31 20:51:58.2585 4634 Gtk-WARNING: gtk_menu_attach_to_widget(): menu already attached to GtkImageMenuItem

2025-10-31 20:51:58.2970 4634 Gtk-WARNING: gtk_menu_attach_to_widget(): menu already attached to GtkImageMenuItem

Your advice is needed here. Thank you in advance!
if you reinstalled the OS or changed distro’s then i would suspect a dotfile conflict.
does this happen if you create a new user and try to use NAPS2?
No I didn’t reinstall the OS or created a new user (except a new user in Vivaldi browser).
I only changed global themes several times.
oh, sorry you said you have been using this OS for only a few days… it took that to mean that it was working before that.
my guess, from the log entries that there is some misconfig with your firewall settings in this OS.
likely if you made a new user, it would have the same issues.
perhaps this is a better question for the distro’s forum (if they have one).

Good idea. I’ll write about the issue there. Also I filed an issue at Naps2 support.
And I found a much more detailled crash log in my system.
Here it is an excerpt:

Running NAPS2 under KDE Neon as well as CachyOS here, no delays at all while opening.
Just found out because of debuglog.txt line "libnotify-WARNING: Failed to connect to proxy " and a similar issue with Signal app that there might be an notification issue.
I deactivated notifications in systray before.
Now, with re-activating, Naps2 opens normal and quickly.
Issue solved.
