I recently made a software (called **QuickBib** ) which helps citing papers in LaTeX.

![quickbib](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/archisman-panigrahi/quickbib/main/assets/screenshots/quickbib_arxiv.png)

Given a DOI number/journal link/arXiv link of a paper, it readily produces the BibTeX entry, which can be copied to the LaTeX editor (e.g. TeXStudio/Overleaf) to cite the paper.

Webpage: [QuickBib — Get BibTeX from a DOI](https://archisman-panigrahi.github.io/QuickBib/)

The software is available on [Flathub](https://flathub.org/en/apps/io.github.archisman_panigrahi.QuickBib) and [Snap Store](https://snapcraft.io/quickbib) as well as a [PPA](https://launchpad.net/~apandada1/+archive/ubuntu/quickbib) and also the [AUR](https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/quickbib).

Source is released under GPL3 on [GitHub](https://github.com/archisman-panigrahi/QuickBib/). It uses the python package [doi2bib3](https://pypi.org/project/doi2bib3/) as its backend.

Also, it is cross platform, and available on Windows and Mac (see the website for details).

How to use? [See examples](https://archisman-panigrahi.github.io/QuickBib/#examples).

I made it to specifically address one problem: Often, one has to cite a lot of papers while writing a research paper. It is easy to find a paper from google, but is causes a huge pain to manually make a BibTeX entry for the paper (for this particular use case, QuickBib is much faster than Zotero/Google Scholar.). With QuickBib, the user can just copy paste the DOI link from the journal website and it will produce ready-made BibTeX (it also has a handy copy-to-clipboard button).

While the use-case of the software is very specific (intended for researchers for writing papers), it would be beneficial to a lot of people doing research.

QuickBib uses python with PyQt6.

Default build/setup from source good on Haiku also. 🙂

Here it produced a nonsense result because the input was in wrong format. Please enter the `DOI number` instead of `DOI e.g. DOI number`.

When it sees a text that is not a DOI number, it searches crossref and returns whatever crossref does.

Me just being unfamiliar with subjects, I guess this looks better?

You are supposed to enter `10.1038/nphys1170`— that is the full DOI number. Do not write DOI in the input box

I released a new version which also includes a “How to use” section in the about dialog
