No Delete Option for SDDM Login

First off, I’m on Kubuntu 25.04 KDE6 Wayland. After using the “Get New” option in the SDDM Login category and trying out a few of them, there are a couple of them that will not let me delete them now. Basically, the little trashcan is grayed out.

I clicked on the “Get New” button again hoping to just find it on the website again and click on “Uninstall” but the button still says “Install” on it instead. I started looking, and just about all of the ones that I already have installed doesn’t give me the uninstall option. The website doesn’t seem to recognize what I’ve already installed.

I’ve looked at my installs through Discover also but it seems that SDDM themed aren’t listed there. I’ve also logged out and back in think that might help but it doesn’t. Anyone have any suggestions on how to delete them?

SDDM themes are stored in /usr/share/sddm/themes.
You can just delete the directory for a theme.

I can’t say why themes you have installed are not removable from the GUI.

You won’t be able to remove the stock Breeze or Maya themes using the GUI.

what happens if you install it again?

reboot instead of log out.

Rebooting did not work. There were no changes.

Interestingly, when I clicked on install again, there was no change to the remove icon inside my system setting, but it did finally give me an Uninstall button in the “Get New” section. After clicking on it, it said “working” for a long time (around 3 mins or so) but it did finally remove it from my system, so thank you for asking the question.
