No Sound on Book Shelf Speakrs

Top Of The Day To All,

I’m new to Linux and just installed Neon, but I have no sound. Please let me know what info you need and how I can provide it.

Respectfully

welcome. easiest start is Plasma audio settings and make sure the bookshelf speakers (or the right hdmi/analog device) are selected as output, not a dead digital sink.

then in a terminal:

`wpctl status`

`pactl info | head`

and if nothing useful shows, `inxi -Axxx`

also check whether mute is on globally and whether the speakers need their own power/input selected (line-in vs optical vs bluetooth). paste the wpctl status output and we can narrow it.

Thanks for your reply. I tried all three of the inputs you requested. INXI -Axxx came back as not installed, so I typed sudo install inxi, and it installed just fine. I restarted the system, and now I can see sound movement through the sound icon, but there is still no sound.

Here is the info you requested from the terminal:

Thanks for your help

meter moving with silence usually means pipewire is sending audio to the wrong sink.

your default is Anker Soundsync Digital Stereo (IEC958). that is a digital/optical path. bookshelf speakers on analog or a different usb amp will stay quiet even while the meter wiggles.

in Plasma audio settings pick the sink that actually feeds those speakers (often the USB Audio one, or an Analog Stereo profile, not IEC958). then:

wpctl set-default <sink-id>

you can also try:

wpctl set-profile <device-id> <analog-profile>

if the Anker box has a physical input switch (optical vs aux vs bluetooth), flip that too. paste wpctl status again after you change the default sink if it still stays mute.

Thanks for the help. I changed it to USB Pro, and I still have no sound. To be honest, I really don’t know what I’m doing in the terminal.

ok default sink is USB Audio Pro now, good. you also have USB Audio Pro 1/2/3 though, and those multi-pro profiles often map to different physical outs. try each of 59, 64, 65 as default once: wpctl set-default 59 then play something, same for 64 and 65. also bump volume and unmute: wpctl set-volume @DEFAULT_AUDIO_SINK@ 0.8

wpctl set-mute @DEFAULT_AUDIO_SINK@ 0

in Plasma Sound, open the USB Audio device and switch the profile off Pro Audio onto Analog Stereo if that option exists. Pro Audio can leave the actual speaker jack dead while the meter still moves. if the bookshelf speakers are on the Anker box instead, set Anker Soundsync Pro (62) as default and flip the Anker hardware input to aux/analog, not optical.

Ok! The first one at the 59 setting worked like a charm.

Thank you so much. Now I just need to post about my other issue, and I will be good to go.

Thank you all so much.
