Open Subfolders in KMail when dropping an Email

When I sort my inbox-Mails into the subfolders of the Mailboxes, I usually have the “subtree” collapsed, because I have a long tree of folders. When I hover over the Node, the Subfolder is attached to, I would love to have that one pop up automatically.

At the moment I have lots of subfolders closed, have to read an email, decide which folder it fits in, then show the subtree with the folder, close the email and drag it into the folder.

I would love to temporarily open the subfolders just by hovering.

1.) What do I do wrong? I found no switch to turn on the wanted behaviour

2.) Wouldn’t that be an improvement?

I just tried and hovering on a close folder expands it.

It won’t collapse again afterwards and stay expanded though.

What I can also recommend is looking into moving by shortcut.
I move a lot of mails around every day and found this to be much faster.

You simply press m (for “move”) and then type part of the folder name

Hi, I tried again and cannot reproduce the “works for me”. I use Version 6.5.3 (25.08.3) under Gentoo Plasma. I tried to send you an email with a Video attached.

But if it works for you I assume its some setting somewhere. We only have to find that one.

I have KMail Version 6.6.1 (25.12.1) on KDE Neon.

I admit this is the first time I’ve ever tried this so I have no idea if this is new or not.

Ok, I’ll try to reproduce as soon as 6.6.1 is stable on Gentoo. Otherwise I have to lookup the code where the magic happens and see what conditions have to be met. I use multiple monitors, maybe wayland does not show the cursor position where KMail assumes it’s supposed to be.
