Opening Folders

Hi first post I am running 26.04 LTS in dual boot with Mint Zena. I have a back up parition on another Drive. that I plan to use and swop files with each system.

Dolphin File manager will not open the folders on this partition(B-UP) I googled for answer on Google but unsure if the answers are correct and will work. Being abit of a Newbie and perhaps (thick) I found one of those answers, above me.

If anyone can assist and provide a easy to understand way of achieving the result. Always as part of my learning curve a explantion of why I cannot do this. My own thought that it do to Permissions

Some more details would help. Does Dolphin show an error? Can you check the permissions of the files (right click and choose Properties > Permissions)? What is the file system of the partition? Do you have read/right permissions for that partition?

if you want to make backups from mint then you should put them into a separate backup archive (bup or what have you) that you do from mint.

sharing a backup archive between kubuntu and mint will create no end of issues.

both archives could share a partition, but they archives themselves should be separate.

and dolphin cannot open a bup archive as they are encrypted… you can only open those archives using the tools provided by bup.

if you want a standard set of folders you can open in dolphin i suggest you use backintime instead of kub/bup.

Thanks after restarting had a drive crash, so threw it out found another and installed. so now have set each OS on seperate drive with their own back up partitions
