Hi,
a few days ago I installed NixOS + Plasma 6 on my Toshiba Satellite P50t-B-10T. This laptop supports a battery charge limit that I could originally (under Win8) enable or disable at 80%.
Now that I installed the Penguin OS, there seem to be some more options. (Always positively astounded!) The ability to limit charging was automatically detected and I enabled it.
In the advanced battery settings, I see the limiter set to 50%. The battery is currently at 34% and the laptop tells me it’s not charging/bypassing the battery and running on AC so it can probably set an arbitrary limit. When trying to adjust the setting, it will reset back to 50% after closing and opening the window again. Without digging a little deeper, I can’t say with certainty that this isn’t a (desired) side-effect of running NixOS.
The actual issue I am facing is my inability to find an override button. Is there some add-on package I need for that? I’d like to be able to instruct my laptop do disregard the charging limit and go to 100% to prepare for departure.
My current work-around is to re-plug the power cable but that will only go to the charging limit. Entirely disabling the limit every time I want to leave the desk can’t be the correct solution.
Whenever I tried looking for a solution on the internet, I just found forum posts of users unable to enable a charging limit, usually because their hardware didn’t support it.
Best,
