In keyboard settings there is a shortcut tab where you can set up shortcut keys to somethings but when you want to add shortcut key for other programs you can only add shortcut key to open it. Would it be possible to add a option to pass the key press to the program.
This could work as a temporary fix while the global shortcut key gets supported by programs and this could work for programs that are “dead” and would benefit from shortcut keys.
How this would work is if the user press the shortcut key that the user specified the program would receive the shortcut key.
i would love to do this with firefox but if the program does not accept hotkeys, or know what to do with them, then “passing” to them just results in a fumble.
I think I wasn’t cleat enough how I imaged how it would work.
You set a shortcut key (say ‘meta + *’) the program gets the shortcut keys (so the program gets ‘meta + *’) and you would need to set up what the shortcut key would do in the program.
So it wouldn’t work for every program but it’s more than nothing.
