Persistent Bluetooth instability on KDE Neon (audio distortion & random disconnect

Hello everyone,

I’m using KDE Neon (Plasma 6.x, Wayland), fully updated. I have been experiencing ongoing Bluetooth issues for quite a long time and have not been able to resolve them.

Here is the situation:

  • I use Bluetooth for my headphones, mouse, and keyboard.

  • All devices connect successfully.

  • However, connections randomly drop from time to time.

  • The most noticeable issue is with the headphones:

    • When audio starts playing (especially after a short pause), the sound initially comes with distortion/static noise.

    • It sounds as if I am out of Bluetooth range.

    • This distortion lasts around 5–10 seconds, then the audio stabilizes and works normally.

  • I am physically very close to the computer, so this is not a distance issue.

This problem has existed for a long time and has not been resolved so far. Everything else in KDE works perfectly and I am very satisfied overall, but this Bluetooth instability is frustrating.

Has anyone experienced something similar?
Are there recommended settings (PipeWire, codec selection, power management, etc.) that I should check?
Could this be related to kernel, firmware, or power-saving behavior?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
