Persistent bug with kde applets

This has been going on for a few weeks now. I’ve been up to date with updates and have not been tampering with my kde installation or compiling manually or anything like that. Icons are not always appearing in the tray and when they do they’re broken graphically and functionally. Any help would be much appreciated!

qrc:/qt/qml/plasma/applet/org/kde/plasma/networkmanagement/main.qml:60:25: Type PopupDialog unavailable

qrc:/qt/qml/plasma/applet/org/kde/plasma/networkmanagement/PopupDialog.qml:110:22: Type ConnectionListPage unavailable

qrc:/qt/qml/plasma/applet/org/kde/plasma/networkmanagement/ConnectionListPage.qml:26:5: Type Kirigami.InlineMessage unavailable

file:///usr/lib64/qt6/qml/org/kde/kirigami/controls/InlineMessage.qml:14:1: Type KT.InlineMessage unavailable

qrc:/qt/qml/org/kde/kirigami/templates/InlineMessage.qml:187:51: Cannot assign object of type "Primitives.IconPropertiesGroup" to property of type "IconPropertiesGroup_QMLTYPE_281*" as the former is neither the same as the latter nor a sub-class of it.

that qml error is usually a kirigami / plasma package skew after an update, not the network applet itself.

for me id try:

  1. full update then reboot (not just log out)
    1. check plasma-nm + kirigami packages are the same train
      1. clear the applet cache under ~/.cache/plasma* and restart plasmashell once
    2. if it comes back after every update, file it on bugs.kde.org with that full qml stack. the IconPropertiesGroup type clash is the useful bit.

Nothing else here? it started happening about 3 weeks ago for me. Went away, and normal operation for a couple days I think, then back to the broken.

Turns out I had a snap installed that contained another version of kde and it was causing a conflict. Uninstalled the snap (akregator), reinstalled kde, and the bug went away.
