Persistent dock badge count on Kdenlive Flatpak with no active jobs

System:

  • Ubuntu GNOME 24.04, kernel 6.17.0-1017-oem

  • Wayland session

  • AMD Radeon gfx1152 (Zen 5 iGPU), Mesa 25.0.7

  • Kdenlive installed via Flatpak (Flathub)

  • Ubuntu dock (ubuntu-dock@ubuntu.com)

Issue: After completing my first-ever render on this install, Kdenlive’s dock icon permanently shows a badge count of 2. There are no active, pending, or completed jobs visible in the render queue. The badge persists across relaunches and reboots.

What I’ve tried (from Claude):

# Delete state file
rm -f ~/.var/app/org.kde.kdenlive/data/kdenlive/kdenlivestaterc

# Wipe entire Kdenlive data directory
rm -rf ~/.var/app/org.kde.kdenlive/data/kdenlive/

# Reset Flatpak config file
mv ~/.var/app/org.kde.kdenlive/config/kdenlive-flatpakrc ~/.var/app/org.kde.kdenlive/config/kdenlive-flatpakrc.bak

None of these cleared the badge, and Kdenlive still seems to be working.

Has anyone else seen this after a render? Is there another state or config file that stores job/notification counts? Let me know, thanks!

Yeah, don’t listen to him, he’ll happily just tell you to snort laundry powder if that’s a thing with a similar phrase that it scraped from somewhere.

Has anyone else seen this after a render?

No, though I don’t use gnome. But I’ll still bet that it’s a gnome thing telling you it has notifications from kdenlive somewhere that you haven’t viewed/cleared. We don’t create those badges, nor could we if you’re running from flatpak.

You’ll need to figure out where the gnome notification thing is and go to it.
