Is there any photo editing software for Kubuntu / Linux that has a ‘magic eraser’?
Do you mean a background remover, or do you mean removing unwanted objects, like power lines, people, etc.?
Krita can natively remove unwanted objects through content-aware fill. It’s not always perfect, however. There is also a plugin that uses AI, though. You can find it on the Krita Artists forum. Don’t think I have it bookmarked.
Sorry, I should have said ‘Object Eraser’ –
I’m familiar with it from Google Photos or Samsung Photos. There, you can remove unwanted elements from photos.
Install Krita and try the Smart Patch Tool. It removes objects based on the surrounding pixels. Again, though, it’s not perfect, so test it with that in mind.
It’s in the “toolbox” area (usually to the left) and looks like two band-aids in an X shape. You can also find it by pressing CTRL+Enter and typing “patch”. You can find many tools or features this way.
Oh, also in my experience, the “brush size” matters.
And if you’re removing a person, for instance, you may need to remove limb by limb first, then the head, then the body. Again, it’s not perfect.
Even if you select the object you want to remove and the area you want it to use for the fill source, it still might not remove the thing exactly the way you’re expecting.
