Photos (Koko): how to navigate to/bookmark directories on a different drive?

I read from my RSS feed that Photos (formerly known as Koko) had been brought to a point where users can start to use it to replace Gwenview. Downloaded it from Flathub, launched, but am not sure how to reach a directory that’s on my second NVMe drive (one that’s not the OS drive). The directory is in /mnt/Personal/ , but I can’t reach /mnt in the app. I can get to /_ Root and /_ Root > home, but can’t see a way of navigating to /mnt/.

If I right-click an image under /mnt/Personal/, click “open with: Photos”, and then press Esc after viewing the image, it goes to path like "/_ Root/run/user/1000/doc/ and then a convoluted directory name, with no other images being displayed in that directory.

Either I’m missing something basic here, or it’s more complicated than it should be. Anyone has any clue?

can confirm

opening an image on my /home folders yields the correct path when “copy location” is selected

but opening an image from a mounted folder yields the run/user/... path instead of the mounted path.

then if use a flatpak permission manager like flatseal (didn’t see anything in discover) to allow access to the mounted file location, i can see that “copy location” will get the correct path.

Flatpak? Flathub?

You can either allow Photos to see the mounted folder, or the entire system.

By default photos only sees your /home/user/ directory

To allow it you have to set it as read write in Permission Control in Plasma Settings.

Go to Permission Control - find the app - flatpak configuration - add the path as read write

That fixed it, thanks.

I have the same issue using Cinnamon on Mint Linux. Any suggestions?

use flatseal to modify the flatpak permissions.
