Instead of the default “tu-tu-tu-tu” sound, you’d hear a piano key every time you press vol- or vol+, depending on the volume level, the key would be different.
This is what holding vol- and vol+ from 100% to 0% and vice-versa would sound like:

Having the frequency of the sound change when you’re only adjusting the volume would be confusing.
