PIP in multicam tool

When I use the multicamera tool, it keeps the clip segments from the active track and deletes the other tracks.

This way of acting makes it difficult to do a picture-in-picture from a clip segment of one of the existing tracks in the timeline tracks in multicamera editing, especially when they are synchronized. Is there any method to 1) choose which timeline tracks will be used by the multicamera tool and 2) place the result of the multicamera editing on a different track than those selected to be used by the multicamera tool?

I asked Copilot and it provided me with some instructions that I later didn’t see in Kdenlive

Sorry for my English, I use the Copilot translator.

Hide the track (click on the filmstrip icon) to not include it

place the result of the multicamera editing on a different track than those selected to be used by the multicamera tool?

Not possible, I’m afraid.

When I use the multicamera tool, it keeps the clip segments from the active track and deletes the other tracks.

Lock the track with the PIP and no cuts or any other edits will be made there

I solved my problem with the following hack.

  1. I place each camera on a different track

  2. I put PIP on each track

  3. I make a cut on all tracks at each camera change

  4. I create an empty track

  5. I copy into the new track the segments I select for the final/provisional sequence

  6. I create another empty track

  7. I copy into this last track the segments selected to create a PIP.

Although it is a tedious process, it allows me to make PIPs without losing the original tracks and making it possible to modify both the PIP segments and the segments moved to the final/provisional track, and I also do not lose synchronization.

I think this hack could be automated/improved in KDEnlive; programs like Davinci and Premiere perform the first five steps in their multicam editing.
