I’ve been exploring KDE (Plasma 6.1) for a couple of weeks now and am beginning to find my feet. I keep running up against what feels like basic info I’m missing though. Questions such as: Where would I put

code. A ‘.desktop’ file or a ‘launcher’ file? Is a launcher something that launches one application or one of many applications? Do all launchers have desktop files? Are desktop files the same thing as a ‘.desktop’ file? And what’s the “Link to Application” thing in the taskbar? How does that relate to a launcher? Is there help on that anywhere? It looks like that’s a PlasmaShell, so that’s different, right?
I would really love to read a Plasma 6.1 (or any Plasma 6) manual and get all this stuff sorted out in my head, except I can’t find it. Plasma 5, Plasma 4, but not Plasma 6. If it were a snake, would it have bitten me?
I keep finding nifty stuff, but I still feel totally lost without a roadmap, aka a manual.
Part of the problem, I suspect, is that I’m a gnome refugee who is trying to dive into the deep end of activities (yum!) for context switching. So I’m trying to fly before I know how to slither. But, hey, that’s life in the big city.
