Holy moly, this one is big for me. I couldn’t stand on debian where I would get the appsearch popup if I typed to find a file or directory on my desktop. I have a good reason now to until forky comes out, keep using fedora. Thank you so much!

For those interested Plasma Big Screen for Smart TVS, yes, it also gets an update…
so you can better enjoy… well… your big screen.
Open Settings, go to Colours & Themes > Application Style, scroll down and choose Union and click Apply.
Edit: if you don’t have it by default (both Arch KDE unstable and KDE Linux do—I cannot speak for other distros as using them is against my religion), you may have to install it. Use your regular software manager to do so.

Fedora KDE hasn’t got it yet…can’t wait for Oxygen
Sadly, no Union for me - though, I only want to check it out. One of my pain points is theming KDE, so having a new tool/workflow would be nice. I don’t seem to have it as an option in my System Settings > Colors & Themes > Application Style.
Any ideas?
I get 4 styles showing up: Breeze, Fusion, Oxygen and … “MS Windows 9x”? No union though.
I think I read somewhere that it’s necessary to install an extra package for union, but there is none in the repository.
So, no support for normal TVs? 
I know, 98% of all TVs these days are “smart” (or in other words spy-ad-devices controlled by tech companies), but there are still TVs without build in smart features or beamer that just can get desktop input without screenshotting it every 2 seconds. Just like in 2000 with 2026 tech.
Anyway, except for Dolphin I really like the direction KDE is going.
Actually those are probably the best: put Big Screen on a Raspberry Pi, stick it to the back of your dumb TV and plug it into its HDMI input socket. Hey Presto: Smart TV without the spying.
That is still no smart TV, that was my point. Any device where you have the control is no smart device. My Linux phone is a pocketcomputer, no smartphone, even if it looks like a smartphone. The technical aspect is very different.
Or maybe a comparison you understand better: KDE Plasma is no proprietary software just because it has some similarities to Windows GUI, just without spying. And in same manner a TV does not become smart (luckily!), only because you plug in a KDE Big Picture mode. The “user has not full control” is essential part of the “smart” term. “Smart for thee (companies), not for me.”
A Raspberry Pi is still an user-controlled computer no matter the UI and output-device.

In my case after the upgrade Factorio stopped getting any inputs except for ESC.
I guess you are right, if you make up a new definition for “smart” that suits your argument.
That is no new definition, it is just the definition the big tech marketing will not tell you. Or tell me one single device that is smart and does not come with those issues … Heck, do you know the many people reverse engineer smart devices only to make them function again, because the company decided to stop support or stop you from installing an alternative OS or stop the device working entirely? Do the larger and larger bot-nets not exist due weak security of smart devices? Even smartphones that run Linux are not fully functional, because of the “smart” (see PostmarketOS device compatibility list). That is NOTHING I make up, these are facts you can easily research. Computers do not have these issues (not speaking about user errors).
Sorry I did not want to turn it that much into off-topic, but when you come and tell “it is your new definition” … You don’t do a favor to KDE calling good things “smart” these days.
Looks like you may have to install the plasma-union package. At least it looks like I’ll have to do that on my Fedora desktop system if I want to check it out.
On a practical level, does this mean I can get Plasma Bigscreen without building it myself now? Get Plasma Bigscreen - Plasma Bigscreen seems to imply it’s still not widely available and it still needs to be built from scratch. (I’m on Fedora KDE and built it from scratch at one point and it worked great…until I restarted and the OS complained I had two Plasmas installed. I had to roll back to a prior snapshot.)
