Plasma Overview feature not working

I’m running openSUSE Tumbleweed on both a laptop and a desktop (3 monitor span) and I’m having trouble getting the overview feature to work on the desktop. For that matter, none of the window management features work – present windows, grid view, etc – refuse to do anything.

I’m not getting any errors – it just doesn’t do anything. I’ve tried invoking it with corner activation, with the hotkey, with a desktop widget, etc. No dice.

Both the laptop and the desktop are running Intel video and have been pretty rock solid. It’s running Plasma 6.2.3. Could it be the 3 monitor setup? Are there any suggested workarounds?

Thanks in advance.

I would begin the test with:

  1. One Monitor
  2. New User account/fresh desktop.

Quick update on this. I have found that the feature always works right after I login and over time, at some point during my session, it just stops working. Restarting plasmashell does not fix the issue.

I had an issue a couple of years ago where launching ‘easystroke’ disabled my one-key menu access on Plasma… sometimes things we assume are completely unrelated.

Does this happen if you start a session with only one monitor?

Does this happen if you start a session with a fresh user account on one monitor?

Is there nothing in the logs? Do you know how to check and read the logs?

So yes, workarounds doesn’t make too much sense - you need to troubleshoot it for yourself, or you need to completely reset your configuration to test if it’s your USER data or a SYSTEM error.

Otherwise you’re asking random advice and nobody can help… but really I’d go with my distribution forum first:

Basic stuff like:

inxi -Fazy

journalctl -p3 -xb --no-hostname
