My screen will normally dim after X minutes when the system is idle. However, if this system is idle, and an X Windows program is running, the screen never dims.
Anyone know how to troubleshoot further or obtain diagnostic information about this?
Thanks!

Do you know if it’s definitely any program using XWayland - ex. have you tried closing XWayland programs individually to see if the issue persists?
When you go to the system tray and the Power Management applet/widget, do you see anything listed in the section for applications blocking sleep and screen locking?
Also, I feel I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention, Plasma 6.2 has had three bug-fix releases since the version that you’re running (version 6.2.3 is the most current release) - I don’t see which Linux distribution you’re using in that info section there, but it’d also be best to make sure your system is generally up-to-date with the latest bug-fixes from Plasma developers.
I’m new to Linux and don’t believe I have too many programs that use XWayland. As a matter of fact, I couldn’t really tell why this issue was happening on occasion until I eventually made the connection between it and my use of FreeRDP.
That said, thank you for the excellent insight here! A quick click on the battery icon shows the locking being blocked by “My SDL application … (Playing a game)” and I know FreeRDP uses SDL (and I’m not playing a game).
I clicked Unblock and “Every time for this app and this reason” and I’m golden now!
As for my distribution, it’s Void and they’re not at 6.2.3 just yet, but I get it.
