I was surprised there was no such option to assign keyboard shortcut to inhibit sleep when I don’t need it. Each time I need to click power applet icon with middle mouse button or click “inhibit manually” after opening applet. I work more and more with keyboard alone and it would be nice to be able to assign keyboard shortcut to toggle it with.
The Power Management widget allows using Tab and Up/Down arrows to move focus between its sections.
There is also an underline beneath the character which should activate the action of specific buttons (Unblock - ‘n’; Manually Block - ‘y’).
But:
- clicking the key corresponding to said actions, does not invoke the action.
- I cannot use Right/Left keys (or any other key that intuitionally came to mind) to focus on the buttons inside the sections
The power Profile section lets you move the slider suing Right/Left arrow keys
The “Sleep and Screen Locking after Inactivity” section doesn’t seem to have a way to interact with stuff inside it.
Similarly, it would be good to have shortcuts for changing the audio output or at least to open the Audio Volume widget (action similar to clicking the system tray icon of Audio Volume), so one can then use Tab and Spacebar keys to change the device/volume.
At this point, might as well expose a shortcut for the opening action of every plasma widget that opens out of the system tray icons and users can set keyboard bindings as they desire.
Just looked for it and found out there is already a shortcut to set keyboard focus to panels, so I guess these are not a problem as far as accessibility is concerned.
