Problems with rendered video on TV

Hi,

right now I am working on a birthday video for a friend of mine. I’ve animated old pictures with the Transform effect mixed with music and videos of friends. The project works fine in general. After I’ve rendered it (Generic/MP4-H264/AAC) it also works fine on the Laptop. If I play it over HDMI on the TV the videos in it work fine. But the movements of the pictures “stutter”.

Do you have any idea how I can render it that it run without problems on the TV?

There’s lots you don’t say and lots of things it could be - but when all is said and done, there’s probably no magic bullet here other than “get a better TV and/or set top box” or re-render it with a lower resolution and/or framerate and/or bitrate for showing on that device.

If it’s “stuttering” it’s failing to decode and display each frame in the time that it has before the next one is due. There’s several places that can bottleneck, and you need to make sure that none of them choke.

Ok. I ll try to render it in a lower resolution. How can I change the framerate and bitrate? Sorry I don’t use Kdenlive very often and I never had these problems…

Same problem when I render it in a lower quality (720). Could the size of the pictures a problem?

Not for playback.

Does your TV have the option of playing from a USB stick? If so, put the video (1080p resolution) on a stick and try to play back from there. The fact that playing the video on the laptop without stuttering points to something between the laptop and the TV imo.

Hi, I’m a novice here, so take my input with caution.

So, are you playing your video on the PC and sending the video to the TV by HDMI?

In Linux, I have better luck with the VLC media player than the default Videos app (Gnome I think).

Thanks for the ideas! I solved the problem: I changed the fps rate from 25 to 60 and now it works fine!
