Program icons ...I will NOT call them 'apps' :-)

I noticed that if I try to assign an image called ‘terminal’ to ‘konsole’ then what does get used instead is a ridiculous gnome konsole icon looking like a complete workstation. I have finally discovered that for MY image to be used I have to rename it to ‘Konsole’ (or maybe just ‘konsole’). This is a problem, ANY image should be assignable. As example let me cite Seamonkey which has email, composter, web-navigator, newsreader and who know what other functions EACH of which really requires a DIFFERENT icon to avoid confusion.

BTW where can I upload icon suggestions?

Any image is assignable.
Here’s my own Vivaldi one:

As for your seamonkey “issue”. If you want a different icon for email, web-nav etc…that’s up to seamonkey.

I use a radio app called Goodvibes. The icon is like:

Goodvibes has a systray function. I made a desktop app for it and assigned an icon to it. As to “not get confused”.

Every single icon in my menu is a custom one. So, assigning doesn’t seem to be a problem.

If I want to assign this icon to konsole…I can.

This is 493034 – Kirigami parses system icon names from custom icon filenames.

Very similar to mine, I also use next to no stock icons, one reason being that many of them are ridiculous and have no relation to the program or to icon-design which does have basic rules. The thing here is that lately the image name cannot be any name.
terminal

Good to know, I presume then that it’ll sooner or later get fixed.
