Cause security concerns, KIO disabled way to ran programs from remote protocol. It touch programs: (local protocol to walk on programs menu) protocol.
I propose solution (not tested), to force programs: protocol to provide symlinks to desktop icons (inside /usr/share or ~/.local/share). This should repair the problem or should you also blocks ranning symlink from remote protocol?
