Good Morning,
I’ve switched a couple of months ago from Adobe Premiere to Kdenlive, and for my purposes, Kdenlive has been working great. Couple of nuances to get used to but the product so far has been great.
One issue I come across and unable to find a reasonable answer to is this.
I have a yt-shorts sequence, which is set to Vertical 1080 x 1920 @60fps.
In the project monitor I see my clip surrounded by large black borders - this is fine and how I want it, as I put text overlays in the black borders.
First image - Kdenlive project monitor - as you can see I have 5 text overlays as I’m testing the bounds of the render. But as you can see I have an awful amount of space on top (above my overlays)
My second image shows how the video is rendered. As you can see, only 4 of the overlays are visible and the one at the top is cropped out.
My question is this: How can I see the rendering bounds of a video IF it’s not displayed accurately in the project monitor?
With Adobe Premiere, what I saw in the project monitor, was how it was rendered. So I could fill all the space with whatever I wanted and it’d appear fine.
Kdenlives project monitor appears to show different.
I’ve had the same impact on other video resolutions where overlays appearing fine in the project monitor are cropped out.
Details.
I’m using Kdenlive 25.12.2 on Ubuntu 24.04, but I also had this issue with earlier versions of Kdenlive with Windows 11. (same device, just changed OS recently)
Any assistance appreciated. Thanks
