Proposal: in Icon Only Task Manager bar, add vertical spacer between pinned apps and other

Hi. I would really appreciate if there was a divider between the pinned apps and the other apps that are currently running. TBH, I have a work Mac and I really like that style and would love if my Linux desktop would behave similarly

Best regards,
Patrik

PS: Maybe I could even implement this myself. I’m a web UI developer. Do you think this is feasible for people like me?

hi, welcome.

the icons only task manager will put the newly opened tasks at the end of the collection of pinned tasks.

what you are asking for is a new feature that offers the option of a visual divider / spacer to be placed at the end of the collection of pinned tasks in order to visually set the newly opened tasks apart.

do i have that right?

You nailed it! Exactly!

Thanks and best regards,

If it doesn’t have to be colorized, you could simply add stuff to the panel as widget ( not pinned task) and add a spacer between those and the taskbar.

Never tried the panel colorizer but maybe it’s possible to colorize that spacer.

that’s an idea, pin your own tasks to the panel, but they won’t animate like task bar icons do, so that’s a loss.

i tried just putting two task managers on the panel with a separator widget in between them, and then just leave one task manager without any pinned tasks…. but the problem with that both task managers will show all the newly opened tasks so it gets too busy.

you can ā€œhideā€ newly opened apps to an extent by having them on separate workspaces, but that’s a kluge.

That’s a….nono. LIke I said, add your fixed stuff as widgets and add a spacer before the taskmanager. But I have no idea if the panel colorizer has an option to color the spacer. And with ā€œspacerā€ I mean the latte-spacer. Dunno if there’s a 6-ish port though. And I don’t know the regular spacer has a size option.
